Itinerary

DAY 1 Depart the USA: Depart the USA on your overnight flight to
Budapest, Hungary.
 

DAY 2 Arrive Hungary: Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport
by a representative of Mayflower Cruises & Tours and assisted with
the transfer to your Emerald Waterways Star-Ship. Enjoy time at
leisure to begin discovering this amazing city. This evening, enjoy
Hungarian folk dancing and music with a special performance
onboard followed by a traditional dinner. Meal: D

DAY 3 Budapest: Today’s included guided tour introduces you to
Hungary’s beautiful capital of Budapest, Eastern Europe’s liveliest
and most cosmopolitan city. On the Pest side, see the Hungarian
Parliament Building, drive along the UNESCO World Heritage-listed
Andrássy Avenue, and marvel at the statues in Heroes’ Square.
Travel across the river to Buda to discover the Castle District and
Fisherman’s Bastion area with all of it’s amazing architecture. OR,
take an exciting hike to Buda Hill. The cruise begins with a leisurely
afternoon onboard as the ship departs for Bratislava. This evening,
the Captain welcomes you with a reception, followed by his Gala

DAY 4 Bratislava, Slovakia: This morning, relax onboard as
the ship arrives in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. During the
included walking tour, stroll through the enchanting Old City with
its charming lanes filled with shops and cafés, Town Hall, lavish
Episcopal Summer Palace, and the neo-Renaissance façade of
the Slovak National Theatre. OR, the active travelers can choose
to go on a guided hike to Bratislava Castle. After lunch onboard,
a highlight of the day will be a home-hosted visit where you are
treated to tasty home-made treats in the home of a local family.
What a unique opportunity to meet the Slovakians and learn about

DAY 5 Vienna, Austria: Welcome to Vienna, the capital of classical
music. Today you have a choice for exploring Austria’s capital:
drive along the Ringstrasse to see the impressive Opera House,
Burgtheater and Town Hall, followed by a stroll through the
UNESCO World Heritage-listed city center. See the impressive St.
Stephen’s Cathedral and the Hofburg Imperial Palace. OR, if you
feel more active, explore on two wheels during a guided bike tour to
Danube Island. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 6 Dürnstein – Melk: Awaken this morning in the medieval town
of Dürnstein. You’ll have free time to wander through one of the
most enchanting villages of the Wachau wine region. The ruins of
Dürnstein Castle, which served as a prison to England’s Richard
the Lionheart, can be seen on the hilltop. Departing Dürnstein,
enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Wachau Valley while
cruising along the Danube before arriving in Melk. On an included
excursion, visit the magnificent 900-year-old Benedictine Abbey, a
UNESCO World Heritage Site, which boasts an opulent Baroque

DAY 7 Passau, Germany: After a relaxing morning onboard, the
ship arrives in Passau where cobblestone streets and graceful
arcades welcome you. On an included walking tour, stroll through
the old town’s narrow alleyways and see the hilltop Oberhaus
Fortress from the town below. St. Stephen’s Cathedral is a
wonderful example of Baroque architecture and home to Europe’s
largest church organ with more than 17,000 pipes. After a bit of free
time, return to the ship for lunch and a leisurely afternoon sailing
along the river to Regensburg. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 8 Regensburg: A morning arrival in Regensburg brings you to
one of Germany’s best-preserved medieval cities and home to one
of the oldest bridges crossing the Danube. As a local guide leads
you through cobblestone lanes on a walking tour, discover the
UNESCO World Heritage-listed old town and see many of the city’s
architectural highlights. Enjoy the last evening onboard as the ship
overnights in Regensburg. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 9 Regensburg – Munich: After breakfast, it’s time to say
goodbye to the Captain and crew as you disembark the ship and

capital of Bavaria and become acquainted with the city during an
orientation tour. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore
on your own or enjoy the activities of Oktoberfest. Meal: B
 

DAY 10 Munich: The final day is left free of planned activities for
your independent enjoyment of this impressive city. Meal: B
 

DAY 11 Munich / USA: Bid a fond farewell to Europe and return
home with wonderful memories of life enriching experiences from
your cruise along the Danube River. Meal: B
