Cruise Information

Zoom your map way out and Panama looks like a small sliver of land, so a trip through its famous canal is a quickie, right? But not so fast — traversing the canal actually takes at least 20 hours! Cruise the Panama Canal and enjoy a zoomed-in real-life look at perhaps last century’s greatest engineering achievement… along with its surrounding lush, verdant lands. This testament to human audacity joins the Pacific and Caribbean in the most direct way possible, and is worth making a leisurely part of your vacation. Even better, Panama Canal cruises call at Central American ports along the canal like Limón and Cartagena… plus at Caribbean island hotspots along the way. You’ll get to explore the local beaches and culture while heading to or from one of the greatest man-made marvels in the world. Cruises through the Panama Canal promise one legendary trip.

Ship Information

Ship: Liberty

Last updated in 2016 (it originally launched in 2005), Carnival Liberty can carry up to 2,974 guests, with 1,160 staff members serving travelers, meaning a higher level of personalization than its mega-ship competitors. The ship is equipped with all the "Fun Ship 2.0" amenities including the Seaside Theatre and popular dining venues such as Guy's Burger Joint. Cruisers can also dine at several other restaurants and bars, including two main dining rooms, the Lido Buffet, and a Steakhouse (for an extra fee).

When it comes to entertainment, the ship includes the Punchliner Comedy Club, the SKYBOX Sports Bar and live stage shows. Children ages 2 to 17 can play at age-appropriate youth clubs while parents relax at the Serenity Adult-Only Retreat.

As far as lodging is concerned, Carnival Liberty offers a variety of stateroom categories, all of which come with flat-screen TVs, minibars and 24-hour room service. The modest Interior and Ocean View rooms are the most affordable options, but those looking for more space should consider Balcony and Suite accommodations.
